VARANASI: A revision petition was filed by the Hindu side yesterday during the hearing of ASI’s demand for Gyanvapi Vaju Khana probe.

ASI to conduct hearing of Vajukhana probe in Gyanvapi tomorrow

On Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court will hold a hearing on the ASI probe into Varanasi Gianvapi Vajukhana. The court will hear the civil revision petition filed by the ASI in connection with the Vajukhana probe on October 22 at 2 pm. At the October 1 hearing, a supplementary affidavit was submitted to the court on behalf of the petitioners.

The civil revision petition was filed in the court on behalf of Rakhi Singh, the main petitioner in the Shringaar Gauri case. A petition has been filed on their behalf asking the ASI to investigate Vaju Khana in Gyanvapi campus. The petition demands that the sealed bathrooms should be investigated like the entire Gyanvapi campus.

Supplementary Affidavits have been filed by both parties

In the Gianwapi case in Varanasi, the bathroom was sealed after the so-called Shivalinga was discovered two years ago. The Muslim side calls it the fountain while the Hindu side calls it Shivalinga. However, except for the sealed shed, the inspection of the remaining parts has been completed by ASI. The case was heard by a single bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal.

Earlier on October 1, the Hindu side submitted a petition calling for a scientific investigation into Lakshmi Devi, one of the plaintiffs. Meanwhile, during the hearing held in the court on October 19, Justice Rohit Ranjan heard the petition filed. Counsel for the petitioner filed a supplementary affidavit to file a copy of the petition. Thereafter, the Muslim side also submitted a counter-affidavit.

ASI investigation into Gyanvapi complex completed in 2023

The ASI conducted a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi complex from July 24 to November 2 last year. However, the investigation was not carried out in the area where Shivalinga was found, where Vajukhana is located. At the same time, the temple authorities believe that in order to determine the religious character of the Gyanvapi complex, it is necessary to conduct a survey of the Vajukhana where the Shivalinga is located. Meanwhile, the present Allahabad High Court will hear the matter on October 22.
