A video of Vande Bharat traveling in a train with a sleeper class in Chennai has surfaced. The sleeper coach launch of the Vande Bharat train service was held at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Villivakam, Chennai. For the first time, the sleeper coaches of Vande Bharat trains are being manufactured at the ICF Railway plant.
Featuring beautifully designed sleeper coaches manufactured by Integral Coach Factory, Vande Bharat trains offer attractive amenities at affordable prices and are suitable for long-distance overnight journeys. According to Indian Railways, the sleeper compartment of the Vande Bharat train can carry 823 passengers. This Vande Bharat sleeper train comes with state-of-the-art air-conditioned coaches. The vehicle can accommodate 24 passengers. At the same time, it has 4 second-class AC buses, which can carry 188 passengers; and 11 third-class buses, which can carry 611 passengers.
Let us tell you that Villivakkam Railway Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) has manufactured 77 Vande Bharat trains. Now, for the first time, sleeper coaches of Vande Bharat trains are being produced at the factory. Vande Bharat trains are manufactured in three states across the country: Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. ICF Managing Director Subba Rao said that Vande Bharat trains with sleeper facility are being manufactured for the first time in India at the Villivakkam Coach Factory.
Vande Bharat sleeper coaches will offer these facilities
ICF general manager Subba Rao said that after the trial run, the next phase of testing will be conducted, after which these sleeper coaches will be used in Vande Bharat trains. These Vande Bharat sleeper car trains are designed with a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Meanwhile, during testing, the Vande Bharat was recorded at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour.
According to Indian Railways, Vande Bharat sleeper coaches are equipped with fire extinguishers and emergency stop buttons near each bed. There are automatic doors to move from one compartment to another, and each compartment is equipped with an emergency intercom. This way, the nose pilot can talk to the passengers and provide feedback. In addition, the locomotive pilot can monitor CCTV footage of the engine. Each cubicle is equipped with CCTV cameras, toilet facilities, charging cables and small lights near each bed.
Vande Bharat’s sleeper trains will be approved on January 15. In addition to this, safety structures have also been improved to prevent trains from colliding with each other. Like all Vande Bharat trains, it also has an armor system. The Vande Bharat sleeper train has 16 coaches and was prepared at a cost of Rs 120 crore.
