Uttarakhand government prepares to take action against people who spit in food, fine up to Rs 1 lakh

The Uttarakhand government on Wednesday issued guidelines to prevent incidents of spitting. He has announced a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh for violators. Apart from this, the police also mandated verification of hotel and dhaba employees and ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in their kitchens.

Days after Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed concern over such incidents, the state police and health department issued separate guidelines and said strict action would be taken against the culprits.

“Impurities of any kind will not be tolerated”

Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said food safety and purity are the government’s top priorities during the upcoming festive season. Rawat said any form of uncleanness or anti-social activities would not be tolerated during the festival and Superintendent of Police Abhinav Kumar issued guidelines to district police chiefs keeping in mind the chief minister’s warning against criminal elements.

“Business managers should have CCTV in their kitchens”

The guidelines state that 100 per cent verification of staff in commercial establishments such as hotels and hotels should be carried out and business managers are encouraged to install CCTV cameras in kitchens.
