Used to pose as Naxalite and threaten others… Extortion gang busted in Jharkhand, six arrested

In Jharkhand’s Lathar, police busted a large extortion gang and arrested six people. The gangsters are accused of posing as Naxalite to extort ransom, police said on Wednesday. They said the arrests were made in Manika, Barumat and Latehar police stations areas.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Bharat Ram said four rifles, one country-made pistol and four live bullets were recovered from their possession. He said the arrested persons have been identified as Anil Yadav, Javed Ansari, Sagar Yadav, Shivanandan Yadav. Shivanandan Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and Mithilesh Yadav.

Police said they arrested Anil Yadav because he had a criminal background and had formed an extortion gang. He said Anil was initially arrested in the forest near Jungur village in the Manika police station area and the information he provided during interrogation led to the arrest of other members of the gang.

Police said both were gangsters of a well-known gang in Haryana. Around 10 pm on May 12, they opened fire in the air outside Sai Leela restaurant in Shivaji Park police station area of ​​Alwar city and handed a note to the manager demanding a ransom of Rs 10 million. He was arrested in Daruhera.
