The United States has issued a statement on the pager explosions that have plunged Lebanon and some areas bordering Syria into chaos. The Pentagon said the United States had nothing to do with the pager explosions in Lebanon on Tuesday (September 17). Washington has found a way to resolve tensions between Israel and Lebanon through diplomatic means.

The possibility of escalating tensions in the region has increased after the militant group Hezbollah accused Israel of carrying out pager bombings in Lebanon and promised to retaliate against it. “As far as I know, the United States is not involved in this matter,” Pentagon spokesman Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder said at a press conference. “I want to emphasize again that we are paying close attention to this matter.”

The US said it was collecting information about the incident. Matthew Miller, a spokesman for the US State Department, said at a press conference that the US was not involved in the incidents and did not know who was responsible. Miller said, “We are collecting information about this incident. The United States had no prior knowledge of this incident.”

When and how did the explosion occur?

There is a chaotic atmosphere in Lebanon and some areas bordering Syria due to the serial explosion of pagers. So far, the explosions have killed 11 people and more than 4,000 people are said to be injured. The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon is also among the injured. The pagers are said to have been hacked and blown up. These pagers are used by Hezbollah fighters. Israel is said to be behind this hacker attack.

Hezbollah said Israel was responsible for the attack, but Israel has not yet responded. The explosions occurred around 3:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
