China is very different from many countries when it comes to food. Here, meat of those animals is also sold which is hardly eaten anywhere in the world. But here we are telling you about such a thing of China which you will not be able to believe.

According to the scmp report, urine of boys below 10 years of age is collected here. In this, the first morning urine of a newborn boy, a day before he turns one month old, is the most valuable. It is strange that why is anyone collecting urine?

The surprising belief behind the practice

Actually, there is a surprising traditional belief behind this practice. Traditional Chinese culture has long believed that boys’ urine has many kinds of ‘mysterious powers’. These include health benefits such as promoting yang energy and reducing fever, as well as spiritual benefits. These also include keeping evil spirits away and promoting good luck.

The practice stems from the traditional belief that young boys symbolize pure yang energy, which can enhance masculinity and eternal vitality. Historically, alchemists once offered boys’ urine to emperors as “immortal water,” claiming it could confer immortality. The Jiajing Emperor (1368-1644) of the Ming Dynasty notably used it in his elixir preparations in his pursuit of eternal life.

This treatment also has side effects

The 1987 film Mr. Vampire also featured a Taoist priest played by Hong Kong actor Lam Ching-ying using a boy’s urine to defeat a witch. But this ancient folklore cure has side effects, such as the belief that the diseases of those who use the urine are passed back to the children whose urine is being used.

To use it, two popular recipes are eggs boiled in boy’s urine in Zhejiang province and pig’s feet made with boy’s urine in Fujian province.

Medical Use

Human urine has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine. For example, Ren Zhong Bai, a famous Chinese medicine made from urine sediment, is renowned for its ability to clear away heat, reduce inflammation, and stop bleeding. Similarly, adding urine to water to make a medicinal decoction or adding it after the medicine has been prepared is believed to increase efficacy.

Helpful in postpartum

Apart from this, it is also considered helpful for women to come out of postpartum after delivery. Women are sometimes given this urine in soup after delivery. This ancient Chinese recipe is believed to help clear away heat, detox, and promote blood circulation.

Getting rid of evil spirits

Many people seal the boy’s urine in a plastic bag and keep it in the house so that its strong yang energy can counteract the yin energy and drive out evil. There is no modern scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of this tradition, but it has been seen in Chinese films and popular TV dramas.
