Now you can make UPI payments without a bank account. Additionally, you can also make UPI payments from other people’s bank accounts. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) recently launched UPI Circle, an entrusted payment system. This feature will soon come to UPI payment apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and others. This feature is currently available on the BHIM UPI app.
What are UPI circles?
UPI Circle is an entrusted payment service where UPI users can add their family members or relatives and friends. This also includes people who don’t even have a bank account of their own. NPCI makes the UPI payment system flexible, bringing this feature especially to those family members who are dependent on cash from others. After joining UPI Circle, they can also make UPI payments.
In UPI Circle, users can use two types of delegation – full delegation and partial delegation. In full authorization, users are free to set a limit of up to Rs 15,000 per month. This means other users in your circle can pay up to Rs 15,000 per month. To make a payment, they do not need payment approval from the primary user (i.e. you).
In partial authorization, every transaction from all secondary users connected in the UPI circle needs to be approved. Once the secondary user makes a UPI payment to someone, the primary user will receive a payment notification. The primary user will approve this payment by entering their UPI PIN. It should also be remembered that the primary user will be considered the person who created the UPI circle. Any UPI user can stay in only one UPI circle.
How to use UPI Circle?
To use this feature, the BHIM UPI app must be installed in both the primary and secondary user’s phones. Also, both should have a UPI account. In this case, the primary user must have a bank account.
– Primary Users: First launch the BHIM UPI app in your phone.
– After this they will see the functionality of UPI Circle on the home page.
– If you want to create a circle, go to the “Created” option, if someone has added you, go to the “Received” option.
