UP: Will by-elections be held soon in Milkipur constituency? Baba Gorakhnath to withdraw his petition

The Election Commission has announced the date for by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. However, the committee announced dates for only 9 seats and not 10. These votes will be held on November 13 and the results will be announced on November 23. Polling for Milkipur seat is yet to be announced. The reason is that former MP Baba Gorakhnath has filed a petition in the High Court regarding the 2022 general elections. The petition was filed by Gorakhnath Baba after his defeat in the 2022 assembly elections, which the court is currently awaiting if Samajwadi Party’s Awadhesh Prasad wins.

However, now Baba Gorakhnath’s lawyer claims that he will withdraw the petition within a day or two as the matter of cancellation of elections is over. Advocate Rudra Vikram Singh said Awadhesh Prasad won the Lok Sabha elections held this year and became an MP. We will not pursue our petition thereafter. We will withdraw the case soon and notify the Electoral Commission, and hope that the election will be held as soon as possible.

It is understood that among the 10 seats in the upcoming parliamentary by-elections in the Union State, the Samajwadi Party won 5 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 3 seats, and the Janata Party and the Nishad Party won 1 seat each. These seats include Kajal in Mainpuri, Sisa Mau in Kanpur, Phulpur in Prayagraj, Kethari in Ambedkar Nagar, Maghivan in Mirzapur, Ayodhya of Mirkipur, Ghaziabad Sadar, Aligarh’s Khair, Muzaffarnagar’s Mirapur and Moradabad’s Kundaki seats.

Congress declares victory in Mirkipur

Regarding the Mirkipur by-election, Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said that like Ayodhya Lok Sabha, the BJP will also lose here. A spokesperson of the Congress Party said that the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has been chanting the slogan of “One Nation, One Election”, cannot even hold by-elections at the same time. The highly motivated BJP government is afraid of holding by-elections at the same time.

Anshu Awasthi further said that the BJP had murdered democracy and the Constitution by not holding simultaneous elections to 10 seats in the Mirkipur Assembly elections, insulted Ayodhya and deprived the people of their basic right to vote. The people of Mirkipur will settle the score with the biggest defeat given to the BJP.
