On one hand, the rains in the hilly areas as well as in the plains have become a cause of trouble for the people. On the other hand, river Ganga is also in spate. The continuously rising water level of Ganga has brought trouble to the farmers in Chandauli in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Here, hundreds of acres of vegetable crops and animal fodder grown by farmers in the alluvium of river Ganga have been completely submerged. Due to which farmers are suffering huge losses.

These pictures are of the banks of river Ganga in front of Sahjaur village of Niyamatabad block of Chandauli district of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Where these farmers are trying to save the vegetable crops grown on the banks of the river, which are completely submerged in the water of river Ganga. Although the river Ganga is currently flowing below the danger mark in Chandauli, this water has become a problem for the farmers cultivating vegetables in the coastal areas.

In fact, the people of the villages living on the banks of river Ganga, from Padav area of Chandauli district to Zamania border of Ghazipur, cultivate green vegetables in the river bank areas, but due to floods in river Ganga, these farmers lost their land in hundreds of acres. The vegetable crop has been ruined. Not only this, farmers of these areas also grow fodder to feed their animals. Which has ended by drowning in the waters of Ganga.

Vinay Chauhan, a young farmer of Sahjaur village, said that 70 to 80 bighas of vegetable crops have been damaged here. Vegetables like bitter gourd, nenua, parwal and okra etc. were sown here, which have completely submerged. Vinay Chauhan told that whenever the water level of Ganga increases, such loss has to be suffered every time and no compensation is given for it.

Another young farmer Amit Kumar, resident of the same village, said that we have suffered a loss of 5-6 bighas. In which vegetables and animal fodder were grown. Everything has been drowned in the waters of Ganga. Amit also told that the fodder for the animals has also drowned, hence in the coming days the animals will face a lot of problems in getting fodder. He told that whenever there is a flood, everything drowns.
