Police have arrested two accused in a case of kidnapping a minor girl and holding her for ransom in Ghaziabad. It is reported that the minor made friends with strangers on social media. Then he was kidnapped.
According to police, the boy had befriended an underage girl on Instagram. After the friendship ended, he extorted lakhs of rupees from the girl by blackmailing her. It was learned that the accused Kunal called the girl to meet him and then along with his minor accomplices demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh from her family.

When the girl’s father informed the police about his daughter’s disappearance and the ransom, local police took immediate action. A case of kidnapping of a minor girl and holding her for ransom was registered at Shalimar Garden police station. Police formed multiple teams and found the minor girl safely in Delhi.

DCP Trans Hindon Nimish Patil said the two arrested accused befriended many other girls in the same manner and also blackmailed them and extorted money and jewellery. The Democratic Progressive Party has warned that people should be extremely cautious when making friends with strangers on social media to avoid such incidents. He also said parents should pay close attention to their children’s social media activities to avoid such incidents from happening again.
