Allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are scheming over their share of seats in the assembly by-elections. Especially the problem of the Nishad Party remains here. A meeting between BJP presidents JP Nadda and Sanjay Nishad late on Monday night failed to take a final decision. Now, to resolve the Nishad party seat issue, Nadda appointed Sunil Bansal as general secretary.

According to sources, Sanjay Nishad and Sunil Bansal will hold an important meeting today on the issue. Sunil Bansal and Sanjay Nishad will hold the meeting at the BJP Office Extension Building. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya also attended the meeting held on Monday along with JP Nadda.

Case stuck on seat sharing

In fact, the problem for the BJP is sharing the seat with the weaker Indian Shohit Hamala Am Dal (Nishad). The regional party claims support from the politically important fishing community and has backed its demand for two seats, citing preferences and allied religions. Nishad Party president and minister Sanjay Nishad is currently camping in Delhi to drum up support for his demand.

Nishad Party holds on to two seats

The Nishad Party had claimed the Majhwa assembly seat in Mirzapur district and the Kathari assembly seat in Ambedkar Nagar, where it had contested the party’s symbol in the 2022 assembly elections. The by-election became necessary as Nishad Party MLA Vinod Bind (BJP candidate) from Majhwa became an MP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

What is the argument of the Nishad Party?

A source in the Nishad Party believes that what we are seeking is logical and based on earlier experiments as in 2019, Santos, then MLA of the BJP ally Apna Dal, Sangam Lal Gupta used the symbol of the Bharatiya Janata Party to represent Pratapgarh. MP. He said that during the Lok Sabha by-elections held after Sangam Lal Gupta became MP, Apna Dal (S) as a member of the BJP-Apur Nadal (S) alliance part of bringing its candidates to the seats.

He said, “Even in Kattari, we have a situation where Apnadar (S) candidate despite losing Rampurswar assembly seat in 2022 elections A petition has been filed against the disqualification of Swaar provincial councilor Abdullah Azzam “for fielding his candidate right after the by-election.”

Voting on November 13 for 9 seats

According to the Election Commission, polling for Uttar Pradesh Assembly seats Karhal, Kundarki, Katehari, Sisamau, Khair, Ghaziabad Sadar, Mirapur, Majhwa and Phulpur will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will take place on November 23. The Nishads fought in Majhwa and Katehri

In the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP handed over 10 seats in Majhwa and Katehari to its ally Nishad Party and fielded its own candidates in all the remaining seats. The Nishad Party won in Majhwa but lost in Katehri. On the other hand, out of the eight seats, the BJP won only Khel, Ghaziabad Sadar and Phulpur seats. However, the SP won 5 victories while its then ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) won 1 victory.
