At 5 pm on the day of the incident, when Chhedanu withdrew Rs 3 lakh and Rs 35,000 from the Safipur SBI branch and went to his shop, three bike-borne gangsters robbed him at gunpoint near Mishra Kothi. After receiving information about the robbery incident, Lucknow district superintendent of police Prashant Kumar also rushed to the spot and after talking to the victim, ordered police officer Deepak Bhukar to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
On September 19, the police searching for the robbers clashed with the robbers. One of the defendants, Ashwini Kumar, was injured by a police bullet. One of his accomplices escaped from the police and escaped. During interrogation, the police revealed the names of Lucky and Mustaq who were involved in the robbery.
