The central government has asked the Supreme Court to revoke the CRPF security provided to the Unnao rape case victim and 13 people related to the case. The central government said based on a threat assessment, the victims and their families did not require security. The Supreme Court has now sought answers from the victim and her family.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the victim and her family on the central government’s application seeking revision of the August 2019 order. The Center has sought quashing of the CRPF order providing central security cover to 14 people in the Unnao case.

Apart from this, it was said on behalf of the central government that the Supreme Court should direct the state governments to provide appropriate security to these people based on awareness of local threats. However, an assessment of the threats posed by the victim and 13 people associated with her found no evidence of any specific threats.

Misuse of CRPF security: Central govt

The Center told the court that the Central Reserve Police Force personnel currently providing security to these people are facing difficulties in discharging their duties. In addition to this, their security cover was also abused. The government further said that apart from this, considering the protocols involved in the CRPF security cover, it involves a huge outlay of the public exchequer which is neither necessary nor necessary at this stage.

What arguments did the central government raise in the Supreme Court?

– Central Reserve Police Force personnel deployed by the Central Government do not have proper and adequate accommodation, toilets/bathrooms and other facilities.
– Protected individuals are difficult to control as they attack each other during fights.
– No local police were under his protection. In addition to male representatives, female representatives are also essential.
– The application states that CRPF has informed the Indian government of the matter.
– Many times, families of victims leave without informing security personnel and abuse them and threaten to involve them in false cases. Not only that, he often threatened to commit suicide.

The case has been transferred to Delhi from Uttar Pradesh
