UK election results: 'Change begins now', says Keir Starmer as Labour party sweeps to power

Keir Starmer, Britain’s incoming prime minister, emphasized that the primary challenge of the current era is winning back public trust and demonstrating that politics can be a positive force. As he prepares to lead a centre-left party to victory, Starmer highlighted the significant responsibility bestowed upon him by the British electorate and expressed his intention to begin work on national improvement immediately.
Starmer’s party secured enough seats to form a majority in parliament. He addressed his supporters by stating their mission is to rebuild the ideas that unify the country.
“Our task is nothing less than renewing the ideas that hold this country together: national renewal,” he said.
Starmer stressed that re-establishing trust is crucial in today’s political landscape.
“The fight for trust is the battle that defines our age. It is why we’ve campaigned so hard on demonstrating we are fit for public service.”
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to reviving the role of politics as a tool for public service.
