The administration had covered the mosque and tomb located on Kanwar Marg in Haridwar by putting curtains in front of them. But when ‘Aaj Tak’ raised this news prominently, the administration took a U-turn. The curtains on the mosque and shrine in Kanwar Marg were removed within a few hours. On being covered with curtains, district in-charge and Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said that this has been done so that no provocation is created.

Satpal Maharaj, in-charge of Haridwar and Tourism Minister of Uttarakhand, says that there should be no problem, you know that when something new happens, we cover it. If it has been done in this way, it is so that no provocation is created, no one gets angry and our Kanwar Yatra runs smoothly. This has been taken care of. This has happened for the first time. You know that whenever construction takes place, it is also covered, so this has been done.

Seen for the first time in 40 years

Maulana Shakeel Ahmed of the tomb of Baba Bhureshah Rahmatullah Alehi says, this curtain has been imposed by the administration. We don’t know why this was imposed. Nor have we been told. Even when it was imposed, nothing was told. We also do not understand why this was imposed. We are seeing this for the first time in 40 years. Only the administration will be able to tell why this has been imposed.

Maulana Anwar Ali of Masjid Islamia says that it is not known why the curtains have been put up. They are saying that it has been installed to cover the mosque. Curtains were never installed before today. Curtains were never installed before this, nor was there any talk about it. It seems that it has been imposed due to Kanwar Yatra. Why would we interfere in the government, do whatever you want.

Never before had curtains been placed in front of the tomb and mosque.

Shopkeeper Yunus says that the administration has put up curtains in front of the tomb and mosque. They were saying that they were installing it for security reasons. By the way, curtains were never placed in front of the tomb and mosque before. I am 60 years old. I live here. But whatever the government is doing must be doing the right thing.
