Two of Rebekah Vardy’s companies report debts approaching £250,000 as she faces paying £1.5m towards Wagatha Christie rival Coleen Rooney’s legal bill

Two of Rebekah Vardy’s businesses have reported financial figures showing them heavily in debt as her fight with Coleen Rooney over Wagatha Christie legal bills continues.

The firms owned by Rebekah and footballer husband Jamie owed just over £230,000, new figures filed at Companies House reveal.

V9 Academy Limited reported assets of £31,448, but owed creditors £161,337. The company is jointly controlled by Rebekah and Jamie Vardy and John Peter Morris.

BKYV Media Limited had assets of £26,948 and owed creditors £77,157. That company is controlled by Rebekah Vardy.

However, Rebekah, 42, and 37-year-old Leicester City striker Jamie’s third company looks considerably healthier.

V9 Media Limited, controlled by Jamie, with Rebekah listed as a director, made a profit of £260k, paying £50k in corporation tax.

It has retained earnings of £794,286 down from £805,088 the previous year.

This was made up of property and equipment worth £493,139, cash of £293,786 and other money owed of £149,386.

A new company called Wagatha Christie International Limited was set up last year. Its function is Media representation services and is not due to file accounts until early next year. It is solely owned by Rebekah.

Rebekah is expected to fork out around £1.5 million towards Coleen Rooney’s legal bill after losing the libel fight.

Coleen’s team are disputing the ‘disproportionate’ 20 per cent costs they had been ordered to pay.

A judge ruled in 2022 that 37-year-old Coleen’s accusations that Rebekah had leaked stories on her to The Sun were substantially true.

Rebekah always denied any wrongdoing, but she was described as an ‘untrustworthy witness’ who was likely to have destroyed potentially crucial evidence on purpose in Mrs Justice Steyn’s devastating judgement on the case.

The after-shocks of the bombshell trial continue with the two parties wrangling over legal costs.

In May, Senior judge Andrew Gordon-Saker reportedly told Coleen and Rebekah’s lawyers to come to an agreement, warning: ‘This could go on and on’.

If both teams can’t strike a deal, Coleen’s costs are expected to be considered at yet another hearing in October.

Coleen opened up about the courtroom saga in a documentary called The Real Wagatha Story after signing a lucrative deal with Disney+.

She also posed for Vogue magazine and released a book titled My Account.

Rebekah, meanwhile, recently holidayed at a £7,000-a-night resort on the Koh Samui island in Thailand with Jamie and their five children.

She shared several photos on Instagram of the trip, including one of her basking in the sunshine on the edge of an infinity pool overlooking the ocean – and another of her children jumping on the beach at sunset.

Luckily for Rebekah, her husband’s career is still going strong even at the comparatively advanced age – for a striker – of 37.

Jamie was the highest-paid player in the Championship last season on a reported £140k a week, or £7.3 million gross per year.

His 20 goals in all competitions helped propel Leicester City to the top of the league and secure their promotion back into the Premier League after just one season in the second tier.

Last month the club agreed to a new one-year deal to ensure he has another crack at the Premier League.

However the deal is subject to Premier League approval. Leicester face a possible points deduction next season for breaking spending rules and it is thought they must sell players this month in order to make sure they comply with profitability and sustainability regulations for the 2021-24 accounting period.

The League charged Leicester in March over an alleged breach although they avoided a points deduction last season as they were not competing in the top flight.

Vardy played non-league football until his mid-twenties but after joining Leicester from Fleetwood Town, he developed into one of the best strikers in the country, winning the Premier League Golden Boot in 2020 and playing for England in a World Cup semi-final two years earlier.

When Vardy lifted the FA Cup in 2021, he was the first player ever to have competed in every round of the competition, from the first qualifying stage to the final at Wembley.

The Vardys own a £2.5m mansion in Lincolnshire and a £2m villa in Portugal on the exclusive golf resort of Quinta do Lago, which they call their ‘sanctuary’.
