A minor girl was gang-raped by five persons, including two of her friends, in Rourkela, Odisha. After committing the crime, all the suspects absconded. Now the police are looking for them. It is worth noting that this is the third rape incident in the Steel City within a week. Police claimed that the accused would be arrested soon.
The shameful incident took place in the Raghunathpalli police station area of Rourkela city. Talking about the incident, a local police officer told PTI that the victim’s family had lodged a complaint at Raghunathpalli police station on Tuesday evening.
According to police, the girl and two of her friends went to a restaurant on Sunday night. Two of her friends then took her to a deserted place and gang-raped her. Three others then allegedly raped the girl.
Rourkela Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Rai said that a police team led by Additional SP has started investigating the case. All defendants involved in the incident will be arrested soon.
Let us tell you that this is the third such incident to occur in Rourkela, known as the “Steel City”, within a week. Two minor girls were gang-raped by three youths in Jharkhand earlier on Saturday. On the same day, a Class IX student was also harassed by a teacher at the school.
Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Rai further said that three persons have been arrested for gang-raping two minor girls and the police are ready to file a charge sheet in the next 15 days. He said the teacher accused of harassing a class 9 student has also been arrested.
