Multiple sources briefed on the matter told CNN about the plot and the fact that security around the 78-year-old has increased in recent weeks.
However, as of now, there is no indication that the Butler, Pennsylvania rally shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks was part of the Iranian plot to kill the former president.
