Washington: Prominent Pakistani-American industrialist Sajid Talal, a supporter of Donald Trump, said the newly elected US president has no personal relationship with former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. Sajid Talal, head of the “Muslims for Trump” organization, also said that Trump will strengthen relations with India and will pay close attention to allegations of human rights violations in Bangladesh.

“There is an impression given by a certain political party in Pakistan that he (Khan) has a personal relationship with Donald Trump,” Talal told PTI in an interview. “This is not true.” The fact is that when Trump was president, he invited Khan to the “White House” (the official residence and office of the US president) at the invitation of the Pakistani Prime Minister, and he said that Trump had driven Khan away. It will not interfere in Pakistan’s internal affairs or its judiciary. Khan was arrested last year after being convicted in a corruption case and has since been jailed for various cases.

Trump aware of developments in Bangladesh
Tarar also said that Trump is aware of developments in South Asia, including Bangladesh. He said Trump knew that Mohammad Yunus, chief adviser to Bangladesh’s interim government, publicly supported Hillary Clinton against him when she was running for president in 2016. He said Yunus met with US President Joe Biden and former President Clinton during his recent visit to the United States. A few days before the U.S. election on November 5, Trump issued a statement condemning “human rights violations” against Hindus in Bangladesh. (language)
