Trump picks new NASA chief, nominates billionaire

Cape Canaveral: US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated his close associates to nearly every position ahead of his swearing-in ceremony on January 20. Trump on Wednesday announced the appointment of billionaire Jared Isaacman, who conducted the first private space travel for NASA with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, to his administration. Trump nominates Jared Isaacman to lead NASA.

Jared Isaacman, the 41-year-old CEO and founder of the card processing company, accompanied the competition winner on a 2021 trip to space and performed a test of SpaceX’s new spacewalk in September service tasks. If confirmed by the Senate, he would succeed 82-year-old former Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida, who was nominated by President Joe Biden.

Daniel P. Driscoll Nominated as U.S. Secretary of the Armed Forces

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Army and Iraq War veteran Daniel P. Driscoll to be secretary of the Armed Forces. On Wednesday, he expressed his intention to nominate cryptocurrency supporter Paul Atkins to serve as chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. (language)
