A group of tourists were stunned by the sudden eruption of Mount Dukono volcano in Indonesia. People started running backwards to save their lives and started descending down the dangerous slope. This terrifying scene can be seen in a video shared on the social media platform X.
In the video, people climbing the hill can be seen running away in panic after seeing a huge cloud of ash rising in the sky. This volcanic eruption took place earlier this month and was recorded in a drone. Seeing the cloud of ash moving towards them, the group of tourists got scared and started running away on the rocky terrain of Mount Dukono.
Tourists arrived despite warnings
According to The Telegraph report, all the tourists narrowly escaped in this incident. According to a report by the New York Post, despite warnings from Indonesia’s National Disaster Agency, tourists entered a dangerous area of Halmahera even though entry is banned here. Let us tell you that Halmahera is a remote island known for its rugged terrain and sparse population.
Warning to stay away from volcano
The agency had issued strict warnings against climbing Mount Dukono volcano, which has been in a state of constant eruption due to increased volcanic activity since the 1930s. However, these warnings were ignored, as reported in media reports.
Priyatin Hadi Wijaya, head of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation, said: “People are advised not to climb or approach Mount Dukono as volcanic activity is increased at the moment.”
