After the removal of Article 370, law and order has improved in Jammu and Kashmir. Also, the number of foreign tourists has increased by 2.5 times. This was said in response to a question asked by the Home Ministry in the Rajya Sabha.

According to the data given by the Home Ministry, not a single incident of stone pelting took place in Jammu and Kashmir between the year 2023 and 15 July 2024. Whereas in 2018, 1328 incidents of organized stone pelting were reported. At the same time, there has also been a decline in the incidents carried out by terrorists. Terrorists carried out 228 incidents in 2018, while 46 incidents have occurred in 2023 and 11 incidents have occurred till July 15, 2024.

According to the Home Ministry, there were 189 encounters in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018, 48 in 2023 and 21 till July 15, 2024. In the year 2018, 91 soldiers of security forces were martyred, while in 2023, 30 soldiers and 10 soldiers have been martyred till 15 July 2024. Along with this, while 55 civilians were killed in different incidents in 2018, 14 civilians have died in 2023 and 15 till July 2024.

The reply filed by the Home Ministry said that after the removal of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a period of peace, progress and prosperity. In the last four years, schools, colleges, universities, hospitals and other public institutions have been functioning smoothly without any strike or any kind of disturbance. The people of Jammu and Kashmir participated enthusiastically in the recently held Lok Sabha elections with record voting. Due to improvement in law and order situation, 2.11 crore tourists arrived in Jammu and Kashmir in 2023. The number of foreign tourists has increased 2.5 times.
