The Staff Selection Commission has invited applications for recruitment to a total of 17727 posts. Nearly 30 lakh candidates from across the country have filled the form for the SSC CGL Tier One exam. That is, there are 170 contenders for one post, so to get a job on these posts, candidates will have to leave behind 169 candidates.

Actually, this figure shows the craze for government jobs among the youth, and it also proves that despite studying and getting degrees, the youth do not have jobs. The government is now making many efforts for this. Along with studies, skill development is being made a special part of the curriculum so that along with studies, the youth can become a part of the market by acquiring skills in various fields. The reason for this is also said to be that there are jobs in the market but there is a huge shortage of skilled people.

It is worth noting that every year thousands of vacancies are filled for government jobs in many departments. But lakhs of candidates fill the forms for these thousands of posts. This also reflects the desire of the youth for government jobs and the unemployment rate in the country. This is not the case only with the SSC CGL exam, this is the case with every recruitment exam being held in the country. In Uttar Pradesh, police recruitment is to be done for a total of more than 60 thousand posts, but more than 50 lakh applications have been received for these recruitments. That is, there will be a fight between 80 candidates for each post.

Same is the case with these recruitments

At the same time, in 2019, the Yogi government had conducted an examination for the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers. 4.10 lakh youth had applied for this examination. Out of which 1.47 lakh candidates passed and 69 thousand candidates got jobs. According to this data, 1 out of 6 candidates got a job. Similarly, in 2018, about 14 lakh people applied for 1,918 posts of Gram Vikas Adhikari. According to this, 1 out of 728 candidates got a job.

Unemployment rate decreased in last five years

According to the latest report of the Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS), the unemployment rate across the country is 3.2%, while in Uttar Pradesh this rate is 2.4%. The unemployment rate shows how many people in the labor force are unemployed. If the survey data is to be believed, the unemployment rate in UP has reduced to half in five years. The unemployment rate in UP was 5.7% in 2018-19, which came down to 2.4% in 2022-23.

Only 8% are able to clear the UPSC exam

UPSC exam is the biggest example of this, UPSC recently shared its annual report. According to this report, lakhs of candidates appear for the exam but only 8 percent of the candidates are able to pass the first stage and by the time the interview comes, this number also decreases considerably.
