Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi
The alliance between the Congress, Janata Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party is about to collapse in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Earlier in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress had supported the Samajwadi Party in the by-elections and in return wanted the Samajwadi Party to side with the Congress in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. But Maharashtra SP’s biggest spokesperson Abu Asim Azmi kept putting pressure on Akhilesh Yadav.
Abu Asim continued to pressure Akhilesh to contest elections for Maharaj’s dozen seats. During this period, Yadav not only visited Maharashtra but also announced the names of four candidates ahead of the alliance. Apart from this, Yadav also demanded 12 seats in Maharashtra in an alliance with the Congress, but on the contrary, the Congress in Maharashtra did not come under pressure from the Samajwadi Party , while the Socialist Party has now launched its own candidate. The names of 9 assembly seats in Maharashtra have been announced.
Most of these candidates are from the Muslim community. The Samajwadi Party knows very well that if the Congress does not form an alliance with it and the Samajwadi Party intervenes in the electoral battle in Maharashtra, the Congress will directly suffer losses. In this context, today is the last date to withdraw nominations for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The Congress high command is in touch with the Samajwadi Party chief.
Congress has made its intentions clear. The Samajwadi Party should ask candidates for all seats except the two sitting MPs to withdraw their names, but Samajwadi Party presidents Akhilesh Yadav and Abu Asim Zmidu has yet to reveal his trump card in this regard. In this context, it is believed that the Congress may suffer heavy losses in the Maharashtra Assembly elections if the Samajwadi Party does not withdraw its candidate list before today’s final withdrawal day.
