To invest ₹ 340 CR in the new plant in EBM-Papst India Chennai, generate 700 jobs by 2026

Chennai, 4 April (PTI) EBM-Papast India, Indian-linked Indian subsidiary EBM-PAPST Group-Manufacturing Fans and Motors-have organized a groundbreaking ceremony in Chennai for its new manufacturing facility. The plant will be set up on an investment 340 crores, a top official said.

The expectation of starting by the end of 2026 will provide employment to around 700 people, which will strengthen EBM-PAPST’s commitment to India and to strengthen efforts to expand local production.

The EBM-PAPST group owned by the German-based family did a global business of Euro 2.40 billion in 2023-24.

Working in the Indian market since 1996, the company currently has four sales offices, two manufacturing facilities and several godowns in the country. It employs about 375 people in India.

India plays an important role in the EBM-PAPST strategy for the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Apmea region. In Chennai, 340 crore investment will be used to develop a new plant on a 14.2 -acre plot. Once operations are operational, the facility will serve markets in Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, the company said in a statement.

“This investment reflects our long-term vision for India. By promoting local production, we are not only catering for the growing demand of our Indian customers, but also creating permanent employment opportunities contributing to the industrial development of the country,” said Atul Tripathi, Managing Director of EBM-PAPST India.

He said that the new plant is an important step in strengthening the flexibility of EBM-PAPST supply chains and supports its ‘local’ strategy.

The upcoming factory follows the establishment of a new global capacity center (GCC) in 2023, which employs about 300 people.

The center focuses on developing a digital solution for intelligent fan technologies and global processes of EBM-PAPST, which contributes to the company’s digital change.
