Three bodies were found floating in the water at the confluence of Jiri and Barak rivers on the Manipur-Assam border. After the body was recovered, it was sent for autopsy, officials said. Police suspect the three bodies found are among the six missing people in the Jilibam area.

The bodies of a woman and two children were found on Friday night about 16 kilometers from Borobakla in Giribam district, Giribaam district officials told news agency PTI. Six people were missing in Jilibam on Monday. Although he said that the bodies have not been identified yet, he suspected that the three bodies were those of the six missing people. The unidentified bodies were brought to Assam’s Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) on Friday evening and kept at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Chief Minister discussed the situation
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh discussed the situation with senior ministers on Friday evening after receiving information that the body had been recovered, officials told PTI. Meanwhile, state authorities declared a school holiday on Saturday as tensions rose in all five districts as news of the recovery of three bodies spread across the Imphal Valley.
