Amid the outrage over the Badalpur sexual harassment incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has said that those who commit crimes against women should be castrated. He said this during a program organized for the Mahayuti government’s “Ladki Bahin Yojana” for women in Yavatmal, eastern Maharashtra.
He said that the state’s Mahayuti government (BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP) will not spare anyone accused of crimes against women, no matter who he is. He said that a bill providing for more stringent punishment in such crimes has been sent to the President for approval.

Ajit Pawar said, “I personally feel that when such miscreants lay hands on our mothers, sisters, our daughters, they should be given such legal punishment that they do not think of doing it again. In my language, the private parts of such people should be removed (castrated)… some people are so worthless that it becomes necessary for them to do this.”

Let us tell you that two girls studying in Shishu Varg of Adarsh Vidyalaya of Badlapur, Maharashtra were molested by Akshay Singh, an employee of the cleaning contractor. According to the FIR lodged on the basis of the complaint made by the family members of the victim girls, this incident happened on 13th August between 9 am to 12 noon. After this incident, the girls refused to go to school on 16th August. According to their family members, they were very scared.
When they were questioned, the story they told shocked the family. The family of the victim girls had informed the police about this matter on 16th August itself. But the police registered the case 12 hours later at around 9 o’clock. First a parent had filed a complaint in this matter. After that when other parents got their girls medically tested, they were stunned. The virginity of many victim girls had been broken.

The victim girl told her family that a dada (brother is called dada in Marathi) from the school took off her clothes and touched her private parts. The accused sexually assaulted the girl. After registering a case in this matter, the police arrested the accused under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
