AIIMS sources said on Friday that the test report of the Mpox infection patient admitted in Delhi AIIMS has been found negative. However, the person has been kept under the observation of doctors.

Sources also said that Safdarjung Hospital has been designated as the primary hospital for MPox cases or suspected cases of the infection.

Recently, sources in the Health Ministry said that between June 2022 and May 2023, 30 cases of smallpox were reported in India, most of which were foreigners. He also said that the possibility of death from this new strain is higher than the previous strain. An official said, “Those who have taken the smallpox vaccine will not get infected. There is no need for any new vaccine as of now.”

This virus also spreads to humans by coming in contact with an infected animal.
