Under a new initiative of the state government, government degrees and Sanskrit colleges in Himachal Pradesh have been asked to adopt government schools. The goal of the program is to strengthen the resources available to public schools so that they can benefit from the fundamental knowledge and expertise of nearby universities.
Under the plan, Himachal Pradesh Director of Higher Education Amarjeet Sharma has asked all government degree and Sanskrit colleges to adopt five to six government schools in their vicinity. Its objective is to provide support to these schools in terms of human resources, infrastructure and other facilities to improve educational opportunities for students in these schools.
94 universities in the state will offer help
According to the government, there are 89 government degree colleges and 5 government Sanskrit colleges in the state. Director of Education Amarjeet Sharma said not only universities should be involved in this initiative, but associate and assistant professors should also be encouraged to adopt it independently of their schools if they wish.
Career Counseling and Awareness Program
College management and staff are expected to contribute in various ways such as attending career counseling sessions, sharing knowledge and creating awareness about the functioning of anti-narcotics squads and women’s cells. Schools will benefit from this presentation, which is designed to help students understand the importance of discipline and life skills.
He also said that the college staff will guide students to contribute to society and nation-building and educate them about national surveys like National Achievement Survey (NAS) and Pariksha, which evaluate the performance of students in schools. Many universities have already taken steps to implement this initiative, demonstrating strong support for government efforts to strengthen relationships between schools and higher education institutions.
