The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Thursday expressed concern over the demand for a probe into the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. Additionally, the Chief Justice of India has been asked to hear the Ajmer case. AIMPLB said Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna was responsible for the incident. And it should be ensured that local courts do not pave the way for such disputes further.

A case has been filed in a local court claiming that the Ajmer Dargah is a Shiva temple. The court took up the case for hearing on Wednesday. Additionally, notices were sent to the Ajmer Dargah Panchayat, the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) seeking answers. An AIMPLB spokesman said the statement was an open mockery of the law and the constitution.

AIMPLB spokesman Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas objected to this in a statement. He said: “The Personal Law Commission is deeply concerned about the allegations leveled against mosques and masjids in courts across the country. Such claims are an open mockery of the law and the Constitution. He said such claims have no place under the Places of Worship Act, 1991 any basis.

Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas called such claims baseless. He said the law passed by Parliament clearly stated that the status of any place of worship until August 15, 1947 would remain unchanged. This means it cannot be challenged in court. Ilyas said he has called on the CJI to immediately look into the matter.

The government has the responsibility to enforce the law – Elias

Rasul Ilyas said Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna should take note of the case and take action. Lower courts were also directed not to open the door to any further dispute. “Both the central and state governments have the responsibility to strictly implement this law passed by the Parliament,” he said.
