This notorious criminal was deported from Austria to India, arrested by Punjab Police

Amritpal Singh, a notorious criminal involved in serious cases like drug trafficking and murder in Punjab, has been deported from Austria to India. As soon as he was brought to Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi, the Punjab Police arrested him. Many serious cases are registered against him in the state.

A Punjab Police official said that fugitive criminal Amritpal Singh, involved in several heinous crimes including murder and drug trafficking, was extradited to India from Austria on Friday. Amritpal Singh, a resident of Bhoma village in Batala, Punjab, was wanted in several serious cases. Punjab Police detained him at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said in a post on Twitter, ‘After tireless efforts of Punjab Police in coordination with central agencies, Amritpal Singh has been extradited to India from Austria to face charges in several serious criminal cases.’

The vicious Amritpal Singh is a proclaimed offender (PO) who was living illegally in Austria. DGP Yadav said the extradited accused was involved in several heinous crimes including murder, attempt to murder, narcotics offences and violation of Arms Act. He said his deportation is an important step towards providing justice to the victims.

The DGP appreciated the tireless efforts of Batala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Suhail Qasim Mir and the entire police team along with the Internal Security Wing of Punjab Police in bringing back fugitive Amritpal Singh to India to face the law and court.

Batala SSP Suhail Qasim Mir said that Amritpal Singh was a proclaimed offender in several cases. In 2022, he fled to Austria via Dubai and Serbia and was evading arrest since then. He said that later he also applied for political asylum there.

SSP Suhail Qasim Mir said that after continuous efforts and cooperation with international authorities, Punjab Police has ensured to bring him back to India to face justice.
