Mehbooba Mufti
During the Jharkhand Assembly elections, the BJP posted a campaign on X but the Election Commission found it in violation of the code of conduct and directed its removal. The party had removed it as per the Election Commission’s instructions, but the opposition attacked the BJP over the issue. Now, People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti has attacked the BJP over the matter.
Targeting the BJP, Mehbooba Mufti said the advertisements put out by the BJP in the Jharkhand assembly elections will leave leaders who want to link Kashmir to India shaken in their graves. Even though Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim-majority country, leaders who decided to stay in India may also regret their decision after this ad. Mehbooba said these leaders took this decision for a secular and peaceful India. He also said that the advertisement released by the People’s Party today is purely public and spreads poison in the society.
What is the election video of the BJP?
Ahead of the second phase of voting in Jharkhand elections, the BJP posted a video on its X account showing Muslim intruders breaking into a house and staying there without permission. The video has been titled “Jharkhand ka Kayakalp Kar Denge”. The BJP wanted to attack the JMM over the issue of infiltration through the video, but the Election Commission deemed it a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and ordered its removal.
Congress complains
Congress and JMM protested after the BJP released the video. Congress filed a complaint with the Election Commission over the matter and termed the video a public one. The Congress claimed that the BJP wanted to spread discrimination in society through the ad and gain an electoral advantage. The second phase of voting will be held on November 20 in Jharkhand. The first phase of voting takes place on November 13. State election results will be announced on November 23.
