By-elections are proposed for 10 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh, Karhal, Milkypur, Sisamau, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Phulpur, Majhwan, Katehari, Khair and Meerapur. The dates of voting and counting are yet to be announced by the Election Commission. Of these, 9 seats have become vacant due to the MLAs being elected as MPs, while the Sisamau seat of Kanpur has become vacant due to the cancellation of SP leader Irfan Solanki’s MLAship after he was sentenced to 6 years in jail in a case. The assembly constituencies holding by-elections also include Milkipur in Ayodhya and Katehri seats in Ambedkar Nagar.

Much before the announcement of the by-election, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made Milkipur constituency a sticking point. Yogi Adityanath has so far held two meetings and one public meeting regarding this seat. He has also set his sights on Katehri seat. After losing the Faizabad seat in the Lok Sabha elections, the opposition parties are taunting the BJP and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Let us tell you that Awadhesh Prasad Pasi had won from here by defeating Lallu Singh of BJP. Seeing the inauguration of Ram temple and the development works done in Ayodhya, no one was believing that BJP would lose the Faizabad seat.

CM Yogi wants to avenge the defeat of Faizabad by winning Milkipur seat in the by-election, where this seat has become vacant due to MLA Awadhesh Prasad becoming MP. Avenging the defeat from Milkipur alone will not be complete, perhaps that is why Chief Minister Yogi has taken the responsibility of preparations for the by-election in Katehari seat of Ambedkar Nagar also so that SP can answer the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections by defeating SP on both the seats. Katehari is considered to be the strongest and safest seat of SP, which became vacant after Lalji Verma became MP.

These can be SP candidates in Milkipur and Katehari

BJP has not yet announced candidates for any seat for the by-elections. It is believed that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the BJP organization are discussing many names. But two names are running from the Samajwadi Party, in which Awadhesh Prasad’s son can be made the candidate from Milkipur while Lalji Verma’s daughter Chhaya Verma can be made the candidate from Katehari seat. The victory and defeat of the by-elections in UP is not only linked to the prestige of BJP but also to the prestige of CA Yogi.

Same is the condition of Samajwadi Party, which would like to fill enthusiasm among its workers with victory in the by-election before the UP Assembly elections to be held in 2027. Chief Minister Yogi is going to once again attend a program in Kumarganj, Ayodhya on August 18, where he will meet local BJP workers. Former Faizabad MP and BJP leader Lallu Singh said, ‘BJP workers are holding meetings up to the booth level. Every worker wants us to win. Every effort is being made to ensure that the voter list is correct.

By-elections are important for SP from 2027 perspective

The by-elections on 10 seats in UP are very important for SP also. Akhilesh Yadav and his party want to prove that winning 37 seats in the Lok Sabha elections was no fluke. SP leader Tej Narayan alias Pawan Pandey said, ‘We have not even heard that the slogan of BJP Zindabad is being raised. BJP is not left at all. Even after looking through a microscope, it is not visible that BJP is anything. Recently, in the Lok Sabha elections, the great and god-like people of Uttar Pradesh tarnished his reputation. By defeating him, his reputation was ruined.
