Now there will be no penalty for giving up a seat in any medical college of Uttar Pradesh. On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak gave this information in the Legislative Council about the seats left in the medical colleges of the state. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak told the Legislative Council that the rule of imposing a fine of Rs 5 lakh for leaving a medical seat in medical education institutions is no longer effective. Yogi government has abolished this rule.

Let us tell you that earlier a fine of Rs 5 lakh had to be paid for leaving the medical seat. The Deputy Chief Minister gave this information to the House in response to a question asked by SP’s Man Singh Yadav during the Question Hour. Pathak said that if doctors are being harassed in any medical institution then it will be investigated. Many times, due to personal reasons, the next doctor student leaves PG studies, hence the rule of penalty has been abolished.

In response to the question of SP’s Man Singh Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister also said that if doctors are being harassed in any medical institution, then an investigation will be conducted. Many times doctors leave PG studies due to personal reasons. Therefore now the fine has also been abolished. Man Singh Yadav alleged that Dr. Ankur, Dr. Priyanka and Dr. Meenu Amar of Sanjay Gandhi PGI were harassed and these doctors were harassed because they belong to SC and OBC castes. In response to this, the Deputy Chief Minister said that if something like this is proven to have happened to anyone, then strict action will be taken from our side.

What was the rule before?
According to the earlier provision, if a student doing MBBS or BDS left his seat midway, he had to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh. At the same time, there was a provision to give a fine of Rs 5 lakh to those doing MD or MS for leaving the seat and Rs 1 lakh to the students of super specialty course DM or MCH for leaving the seat midway. NMC i.e. National Medical Council had suggested the state government to remove this fine. On this basis, approval was given to remove this rule.
