Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Paras
Former Union Minister Pashupati Paras was angry over the NDA and called a mega meeting of leaders. It is said that Paras can now finally sever ties with the NDA. Now, neither the BJP nor Nitish Kumar has extended any support to Paras, who has been isolated since the Lok Sabha elections.
If Paras’s party leaders are to be believed, Nitish Kumar did not even give him time to meet. Under such circumstances, people can’t help but ask, why was Pashupati, the former King of Modi, suddenly marginalized?
These 3 decisions add to the difficulty
In 2021, his uncle Pashupati Paras rebelled and his status and prestige were glorified. Paras was appointed as Ram Vilas-level minister in the Modi cabinet. Pallas’s security was increased, but now Pallas had neither status nor prestige.
1. Seat allocation should be firm
The BJP has initiated the process of reaching an agreement between Pashupati Paras and Chirag Paswan in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP believes that Paswan’s vote bank is closely linked to Chirag. In this case, rejecting Chirag would be a politically unwise decision.
The BJP is said to be making a lot of efforts towards this, but Pashupati Paras disagrees. Paras insisted on the Hajipur seat, while Chirag also wanted to occupy the seat. Eventually the BJP left Paras and compromised with Chirag.
As per the agreement, Chirag Paswan got 5 Lok Sabha seats of his choice. Chirag managed to win all these seats in the 2024 elections.
2. Don’t compromise even with RJD
After breaking with the BJP, Pashupati Paras took the initiative to form an alliance with the RJD. Lalu Yadav is said to want him to contest on his own logo. Lalu said that the Pashupati Paras Party does not have a strong support base of Ram Vilas Paswan and people are not aware of the Pashupati Paras Party logo.
Pashupati Paras could not accept Lalu’s proposal. Interestingly, at the same time, Veena Devi, the MP from Paras, switched to Chirag, thus making his bargaining position even weaker. In the end, Pashupati Paras could not even get a berth in the Indian League.
3. Final decision not to participate in the election
After being rejected by India and the NDA, Pashupati Paras decided not to contest the elections. Political experts said this was a suicidal decision for a political leader.
These speculations are reinforced by Pashupati’s non-contestation, as he is said to have no support base.
Pashupati Paras supported the NDA and decided not to contest the elections. However, the NDA, which had entered the field strongly along with Chirag, was no longer interested in Pashupati.
Nitish was also ambushed
Pashupati rebelled against Chirag and joined the NDA, but Nitish persisted. Vaishali MP Veena Devi said in an interview that the script of LJP Toot was written at the house of then Deputy Speaker of Parliament Maheshwar Hazari. Hazari is a strong leader of JDU and has been included in Nitish’s cabinet.
Nitish and Paras were together till 2024 but NDA announced Nitish as the CM face. Likewise, Nitish started distancing himself from Paras. Nitish does not want to clash with Chirag in the assembly elections.
In the 2020 elections, JDU candidates lost 40 seats due to Chirag.
Can Pallas do magic now?
Pashupati Paras still has to fight for the 2025 assembly elections. Paras recently announced that if he is not respected in the NDA, he will contest the 243 seats alone in the 2025 elections.
The two-day Paras meeting is said to be able to chart a roadmap in this regard. The Paswan community in Bihar accounts for about 5% of the population. Caste has a direct impact on 40-50 Dalit-dominated seats. If Paras can do something here, then the game is on the cards.
