The rain continues in Delhi-NCR. Amidst the drizzling rain, there is a huge jam on Mathura Road connecting Delhi to Faridabad. Long queues of vehicles were seen from Jasola/Apollo Metro Station to Aligaon Stand. According to the information, there was a 3 km long jam. During this time, vehicles were seen crawling. During this time, people reaching their destination had to face a lot of trouble. People were stuck in the jam for hours.

According to the Meteorological Department, parts of the national capital received rain on Thursday and the maximum temperature was recorded at 27.9 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees below normal. The IMD has issued an ‘orange’ alert in the city as extremely bad weather has been predicted. The Meteorological Department has warned of disruption in other means of transport including rail, road and air transport.

According to the Meteorological Department, the city received rain since Wednesday night. The primary weather station Safdarjung recorded 16.3 mm of rain till 8.30 am. According to the data, other stations recorded 16 mm of rain at Lodhi Road, 15 mm at Ayanagar and 13 mm at Pitampura and SPS Mayur Vihar.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi’s primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded 933.6 mm of rainfall this season against the normal rainfall of 586.9 mm, which is 57 per cent more than the normal figures.

Delhi Traffic Police wrote in a post on X that traffic was affected due to a big pothole on the carriageway from T Point Uttam Nagar East Metro Station towards Pankh Road on Old Pankh Road. Traffic was affected on GTK Road due to waterlogging on both carriageways from Mukarba Chowk towards Azadpur Chowk and near GTK Depot. Traffic was also affected on MB Road on the carriageway from Khanpur T Point towards Mehrauli and Rohtak Road.

The weather department has predicted generally cloudy sky and moderate rain on Friday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively.
