‘There should be a secular civil code in the country’, PM Modi said from the Red Fort on Uniform Civil Code

On the occasion of Independence Day, PM Modi spoke about the need for a secular civil code from the ramparts of the Red Fort. PM Modi said that those laws which divide the country in the name of religion should be removed. PM Modi said that there is a need for a secular civil code in the country and wrong laws have no place in the modern society. PM Modi said that the current civil code is a communal civil code. Now we need a secular civil code.

What did PM Modi say?

From the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Modi said, ‘It is the duty of the 140 crore people of India to fulfill their duties as citizens and I want a debate on this. Laws which are communal and discriminatory have no place, we need a secular civil code.

What is Uniform Civil Code?

Uniform Civil Code (UCC) means having the same law for all citizens (people of every religion, caste, gender) living in the country. If Civil Code is implemented in any state, then there will be uniform law for every citizen in all subjects like marriage, divorce, child adoption and division of property. In the fourth part of the Constitution, there is a detailed description of the Directive Principles of State Policy, in which Article 44 states that it is the responsibility of the government to enforce a uniform civil code for all citizens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort for the 11th consecutive time. During this, PM Modi spoke from the ramparts of the Red Fort on many topics, from natural disasters to reforms and governance models. He discussed the population before independence, mentioned independence and expressed the resolve to make a developed India by 2047.

PM Modi said that those who commit monstrous acts against women should be given the harshest punishment. There is a need to create fear in the minds of criminals. When such monstrous incidents happen to women, there is a lot of discussion about it, but when the culprit is sentenced in that case, there is no discussion. Now the time has come when there should be equal discussion about punishment so that fear can be created in the minds of criminals as to what kind of punishment is there for committing such a crime.

PM Modi also spoke on One Nation, One Election

PM Modi said that elections in the country repeatedly become an obstacle to progress. Every work has been colored with the colors of elections. There has been extensive discussion. I urge political parties to come forward for One Nation One Election for the progress of India and to ensure maximum utilization of resources for the common people.
