‘There is peace in Kashmir but it is like a crematorium’, Mehbooba Mufti told Aaj Tak

There are assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. In an interview with Aaj Tak, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti talked about many issues including the upcoming elections, ‘New Kashmir’, National Conference-Congress alliance. Mehbooba Mufti said that there is peace in Kashmir today, but it is like a crematorium. She also claimed that PDP will be the kingmaker in this election.

Mehbooba Mufti has ruled out any alliance with the BJP. She said, our party is contesting the elections and we will be the kingmakers. If we get a chance, we will choose the Chief Minister from the PDP. Our party has very capable and very senior leadership. No party can form a government without our support.

PDP remained on the target of agencies

Mehbooba said that this election is different from the Lok Sabha elections. People’s thinking is also different in this. On the question of defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Mehbooba said that PDP has been the target of investigation agencies and BJP. On the question of New Kashmir, Mehbooba said that agencies like ED, NIA are targeting in New Kashmir. They are harassing people. You cannot speak the truth here. BJP may try to show a good picture, but it is not true. On the question of development of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba mentioned the fall of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Maharashtra. She said, people are not happy with the work of this government.

What did Mehbooba say about not contesting the elections herself?

On the question of not contesting the election herself, Mehbooba said, “When I do not see my flag with the national flag, my heart hurts. When I do not see my constitution with the Indian constitution, which was a part of the Indian constitution, my heart hurts. That is why I do not feel like contesting this election.”

Rashid Engineer gets bail for splitting votes

On Engineer Rashid getting bail, Mehbooba Mufti said, this is clearly an attempt to divide votes in Kashmir and harm PDP. Mehbooba said that bail has been granted to divide votes during elections. But thousands of youth of Kashmir who are in jail should also be released. There is a doubt that he might be a BJP supporter. Because he is coming out of jail during elections. He is doing this to divide votes.
