Before the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha appeared on the stage of ‘Panchayat Aaj Tak’. During the program, he answered all the questions asked about Jammu and Kashmir. One of these questions was whether the administration will give freedom to Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to speak and express his views on this stage of Aaj Tak? In response to this, LG Manoj Sinha said, ‘There is no restriction on Mirwaiz Sahib. If agencies advise that he is in danger and he should not go to public events, then it is a different matter.’

Manoj Sinha said, ‘Whether Mirwaiz Umar Farooq will be able to come to this program of Aaj Tak or not, it is up to him and the people engaged in his security to decide. There is no ban from my side. There is no ban on any political or religious person, not just him. Yes, there is definitely a ban on those who are a threat to the unity and integrity of India. Such people are banned and it will continue.’ Let us tell you that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest just before the abrogation of Article 370. He has been allowed to go out of his residence only on a few occasions.

On being asked about the real estate and health sector, Manoj Sinha said, ‘I never said that investment has come in the real estate sector in Jammu and Kashmir. A summit was held in which there were legal complications. Till now, minimum investment had come. Three new medical colleges have been built in Srinagar. Apollo and Medanta are also going to start work in Jammu. The delay in this was due to a fault in the process, which has been removed. Work will start soon.’ Talking about the medical colleges and AIIMS built in Jammu and Kashmir in the last five years, he said that everyone gets five lakh rupees for treatment, this is possible only in Jammu and Kashmir.

Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a public meeting during his recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir, had said that the Lieutenant Governor has been made the king here. On this question, Manoj Sinha said, ‘Take the opinion of the public, the doors of Rahul Gandhi’s mind will open. Get a secret ballot done, if more than 75 percent of the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not say that work has been done for their welfare in the last five years, then I will leave from here.’ He also said that those who are questioning the courts, it is not right. When a stone falls in the mud, the splashes fall on the person himself. People should avoid such things.
