After the collapse of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, there has been a political uproar in Maharashtra, where on one hand the opposition parties are attacking the ruling Mahayuti alliance, now Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has reacted on this issue. He said that if stainless steel had been used for the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji, then the statue would never have collapsed. He also shared an anecdote and told that a contractor had fooled him.

Speaking at the Tunneling India event in Mumbai on Tuesday, the Union Minister said that I remember, when I was constructing 55 flyovers in Mumbai, a person fooled me. That person gave me iron coated with a green powder and said that it will not rust. I believed him and used the iron, but that iron is rusting.

He further said that currently stainless steel will be used in the construction of bridges in the 30 km area near the sea. If stainless steel had been used for the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji, it would never have collapsed. You see, all the buildings near the sea in Mumbai rust quickly. So what to use and what to install where. I think that where there is hard rock, a low power machine will be needed for drilling. And where there is soil, there is no need for heavy machines. Are there two types of such machines?

PM Modi had unveiled the statue

Let us tell you that at the end of last month, the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj installed in a fort in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra collapsed. This statue of Shivaji Maharaj was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year.

According to PTI, an official said that the 35-foot-high statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fell at around 1 pm at Rajkot Fort in Malvan. He said that experts will find out the exact cause of the fall, but the district has been experiencing heavy rains and strong winds for the last two-three days, so this could also be the reason.

At the same time, in the case of the collapse of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue, Sindhudurg District Police has issued a lookout circular against sculptor Jaydeep Apte on Tuesday. The opposition is constantly accusing the government of hiding the sculptor.
