The court has sentenced the wife who strangled her husband to death in Barmer to life imprisonment. A fine of Rs 5000 has also been imposed. About two and a half years ago, after a quarrel with her husband, the wife strangled her husband to death with a leather belt. The case is from Purana Jatiyon Ka Vas area of Kotwali police station area of Barmer city.
As soon as the court sentenced the wife to life imprisonment and the police started taking her to Jodhpur Central Jail, the wife burst into tears. The police have sent the accused wife to Jodhpur Jail. Government advocate Poonamchand Chaudhary said that about two and a half years ago on March 1, 2022, around 3 pm, there was a fight between husband Ashok Kumar alias Anil and his wife Manju.
He was strangled with a leather belt
During this time, wife Manju strangled her husband with a leather belt kept in the room. This led to the death of the husband. Kunti Devi, mother of deceased Ashok Kumar (Anil), had lodged a case of murder of her son against her daughter-in-law in the city’s Kotwali police station. After investigating the case, the police presented a 180-page charge sheet against the accused wife on 7 May 2022.
Statements of 16 witnesses were presented
In this case, 16 witnesses were produced by the prosecution and their statements were recorded. 3 evidences including the leather belt and clothes used for the murder were presented in the court. 24 different documents were also presented. After presenting all the evidences, witnesses and hearing the arguments of both the sides, the honourable judge Piyush Chaudhary of Barmer ADJ Court No. 2 held Manju guilty and sentenced her to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 5000.
Husband had affair with another woman
On the other hand, the wife’s argument was that the husband was having an affair with another woman. In the quarrel between husband and wife, the wife’s bangles broke. In such a situation, the angry wife strangled the husband with a leather belt lying in the room. This resulted in the death of the husband. The deceased’s mother Kunti Devi alleged that the son’s in-laws and wife had also threatened to kill me and my son.
Three children became helpless
After the father’s death, the mother was in jail on murder charges. Now the mother has been sentenced to life imprisonment. In such a situation, 8-year-old Komal, 6-year-old Diksha and 4-year-old son Samrat have become helpless. Deceased Ashok alias Anil and Manju were married about 10 years ago. 2 years 4 months and 4 days after the charge sheet was presented, the court has convicted the wife and sentenced her to life imprisonment.
