The terror of the only man-eating wolf roaming freely in Bahraich district of UP is not stopping. On 10 September, the forest department caught the fifth wolf. After that, the only remaining man-eater ‘Langda Sardar’ has become more aggressive. That wolf has attacked three people in two days, including two girls and a woman.

Despite all the efforts, the terror of the dreaded man-eating wolf continues in Mahsi area of ​​Bahraich. Late on Wednesday night, the man-eating wolf attacked a woman. Family members said that the wolf attacked Pushpa Devi (50) when she was sleeping in the veranda inside the house. On hearing the woman’s scream, the family members ran and saved the woman’s life. The woman was seriously injured in the wolf attack. She was taken to CHC, where the doctors referred her to the district hospital. This incident is from Raipur Korean Tepra village of Khairighat police station area. Earlier, this man-eating wolf had attacked two girls.

On the night of September 10, the ‘Langda Sardar’ wolf attacked two different villages, in which two 11-year-old girls were badly injured. The man-eater targeted 11-year-old Suman of Gaderan Purva village and Shivani of Khairighat. Suman is being treated at the district hospital in Bahraich, while Shivani is admitted at CHC Mahsi.

The same has happened in this case too, when the female wolf was caught last Tuesday, since then this lame wolf has been attacking again and again.

Forest department officials said that the fifth wolf was caught on Tuesday under the ‘Operation Bhedia’ campaign going on in Mahsi tehsil. This campaign is being run to catch a pack of six wolves. The pack has killed 10 people and injured more than 50 people since July.

Another wolf caught in Bahraich

Divisional Forest Officer Ajit Pratap Singh told the news agency that the fifth man-eating wolf was caught near the Ghaghra river near Harbhanspur village. He said, “Now the last wolf of the pack, who is lame, is left. Hopefully he will also be caught soon.” He said that the forest department team found the footprints of the wolf in the area on Monday night. Due to the operation not being carried out at night, four teams of the forest department reached in the morning and surrounded the area. The wolf was trying to escape, but then got trapped in the net laid by the forest department. With the help of the villagers, the forest workers caught the wolf and locked it in a cage.

According to officials, the danger will remain until the lame wolf is caught. The aim of the campaign ‘Operation Bhedia’, which has been going on since July 17, is to catch a pack of six wolves that have created terror in 50 villages of Mahsi tehsil of Bahraich district. So far, 10 people, including nine children, have died in the attack of these wolves. Apart from this, more than 50 people are also injured.
