Once again, someone tried to target former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Trump was playing golf at a golf course in Florida when he heard gunshots. However, Trump was completely safe in this incident. It is reported that the attacker was targeting Trump. US Secret Service agents arrested the suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. Now, the defendant’s son, Olan Routh, has been interviewed by the media.
A source familiar with the investigation confirmed to The Guardian that the suspect in Sunday’s case is Ryan Wesley Routh, 58. However, his name has not yet been officially revealed, nor has the motive behind the attack been given.
The son said of his father, who was suspected of being the accused, “There is a world of difference in violence…”
In an interview with CNN on Sunday, Oran Routh described Ryan as “a loving and caring father.” She said her father was an “honest and hard-working man.”
She said, “I don’t know what happened in Florida, and I hope it’s been blown out of proportion because from the little that I’ve heard, it doesn’t sound like the person I know who would do something crazy, never mind violent.
“My father saw people dying in Ukraine…”
The defendant’s son, who also spoke to the Guardian by phone, said her father had gone to Ukraine and volunteered to help soldiers defend the country from Russian forces.
The accused’s son, Oran Routh, said he has not had any direct conversations with his father and has no access to information about the allegations against him, so he does not want to talk about it.
Still, Orlan said his father was very emotional about Ukraine. “My father went there (Ukraine) and saw people there fighting and dying,” Orlan said. “He … tried to make sure everything was OK.”
During last week’s Wednesday debate with Kamala Harris, Donald Trump did not answer a question about whether he wanted Ukraine to win its war against Russia. Referring to Trump’s statement, Orlan said, “This guy (Donald Trump) just sat there and didn’t do anything (about Ukraine).”

Ryan Routh also has an account from August 2023 that has two posts addressed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The suspect who allegedly attacked Trump wrote in the post that he was in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev and wanted to build a tent city for foreigners in a local park. The tent city was built to allow more people overseas to support Kiev and collect rescue equipment.
Ryan Routh expressed concern for Haiti, which is struggling with a violent civil war, in a December post.
The defendant is a Democratic Party supporter
Online records show Ryan Ross as a Democratic supporter. According to those records, he last voted in the North Carolina presidential primary in March.
Earlier on July 13, Donald Trump was also attacked at a rally in Pennsylvania. He narrowly escaped the attack, but suffered an injury to one of his ears.
