In a major operation, Udala police seized 171 liters of country liquor from a private bus at Udala bus stand in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. The wine is transported hidden in cold drinks bottles. In this case, the police arrested three smugglers, namely Sanyasi Bisoi, Umakant Das and Putu Singh. All three are residents of Bhubaneswar, Ganjam and Mayurbanj districts.
According to police, country liquor was being transported to Bhubaneswar from Kunta. He received secret information that a private bus named ‘Raja Babu’ was transporting a consignment of illegal liquor. Police took immediate action, stopping the bus and conducting a search. During the search, 171 liters of country wine in cold drinks bottles were discovered.
Baggage delivered safely and paid for
The arrested accused told them that they were transporting the liquor from Kunta to the high-tech area of ​​Bhubaneswar. He used to be paid Rs 500 for delivering each piece of luggage safely. Sanyas Bisoy also admitted that this was his first time smuggling country liquor. Police seized 76 cold drinks bottles containing approximately 171 liters of country wine. The police are currently investigating the case in depth and are looking for other suspects in this huge smuggling network.
More tribal people live in Mayurbhanj
An officer from Udala police station said, “Country liquor is consumed in slum areas of Bhubaneswar. More tribal people live in Mayurbhanj. So, some people make country liquor here. Some people come from Bhubaneswar Val came and took away the country liquor. In this case, they were caught red-handed with the liquor in cold drink bottles. “The seized country liquor was said to be worth Rs 50,000. Three people have been arrested in the case. The police have initiated action under Special Section 52(A) against the accused in the case. The official also said that there was a large gang smuggling country liquor and that was being investigated.
When police discovered alcohol in bottles of cold drinks, the situation was shocking because drinking country liquor can not only make people intoxicated but can sometimes lead to death.
