‘The sick old man of Red Square keeps threatening everyone’, Zelensky made fun of Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday said a new Ukrainian drone missile would push Russia back in a war, mocking Russian President Vladimir Putin as the “sick old man of Red Square”.

Ukraine celebrated its 33rd Independence Day amid the war with Russia. During this, Zelensky said that the new weapon, Palianytsia, is faster and more powerful than the domestically manufactured drones that Ukraine has been using against Russia so far.

Zelensky made fun of Putin

Zelensky warned, “Our enemy will know what Ukraine’s method of retaliation is.” The Ukrainian President said that the new weapon was used in a successful attack on a target in Russia. However, he did not disclose the place.

He mocked the 71-year-old Russian president and the nuclear rhetoric coming from Moscow. Zelensky said, ‘None of his threats will affect us, a sick old man from Red Square who constantly threatens everyone with the red button.’

Russia calls Ukrainian drone attacks ‘terrorism’

Russia, which has been attacking Ukraine with thousands of missiles and drones since February 2022, has described the Ukrainian drone attacks as ‘terrorism’. Putin’s forces are advancing in the eastern part of Ukraine and have so far captured about 18 percent of the country.

“I want to emphasize once again that our new weapons decisions, including in Palianytsia, are our true way of working, while, unfortunately, some of our partners are delaying their decisions,” Zelensky said at a news conference.

Why was the missile named so?

‘Palianytsia’ is a type of Ukrainian bread. Ukrainians say that it is very difficult for Russians to pronounce this word. Zelensky said about the drone missile, ‘It will be very difficult for Russia to tell what they have been attacked with.’
