The shooting of the film was stopped, then Gurdas Maan did Bhangra with Shahrukh in ‘Veer Zara’

Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan is a big personality in the music industry. Hardly anyone has not danced to his power packed songs. If you remember, he did a cameo in Shahrukh Khan’s film ‘Veer Zara’. But you might not know that his cameo was not planned. There is an interesting anecdote related to this, which the singer has shared.

Gurdas Maan’s revelation

Gurdas Maan has refreshed the memories of working on the songs ‘Aisa Desh Hai Mera’ and ‘Lohri’ from Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta’s film ‘Veer-Zaara’. The singer sang both the songs and also did a small role in ‘Aisa Desh Hai Mera’ doing Bhangra with Shahrukh Khan. Gurdas said that this role was not decided in advance, rather he agreed to do this role on the request of late director Yash Chopra.

Gurdas Maan on his cameo in Veer Zaara said, the film Veer Zaara and the songs Aisa Desh Hai Mera and Lohri are very close to my heart. One of my fondest memories is how it all happened. At that time I was shooting for my film Desh Hoya Pardes in Chandigarh and the shooting of Veer Zaara was also going on. Yash ji and I were staying in the same hotel.

He also sang songs and did cameos

He further said, I had already recorded parts of ‘Lohri’ and ‘Aisa Desh Hai Mera’ when one day Yash ji told me that they were going to shoot for the song ‘Aisa Desh Hai Mera’. Since I was there and I had lent my voice to the song, he asked me to do a cameo in it. Then I stopped shooting my film and joined the shooting of ‘Veer-Zaara’. It was really a beautiful moment because this song shows the pride of our country.

For your information, the film ‘Veer-Zaara’ has been re-released in theatres on 13 September, after almost 20 years. This film is known for its heart-touching tunes and wonderful love story.
