The series of road accidents is not stopping in UP, 35 people lost their lives in two months

Road accidents are not showing any signs of decreasing in Uttar Pradesh. 35 people have died in three accidents in the state in less than two months, including seven who died in a collision between a car and a double-decker bus in Etawah on Sunday.

According to police sources, a double-decker bus and a car collided in Usrahar area of ​​Etawah on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway at around 1:45 pm on Sunday night. In the accident, seven people including three people in the car died and 25 others were injured.

According to the news agency report, this is the third major incident in the state in the last two months in which more than five people have died. Earlier on July 10, a speeding bus hit a milk container from behind on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, resulting in the death of 18 passengers. More than 30 people were also injured in this accident.

Earlier, on the early morning of Wednesday, June 12, a major road accident had taken place in Hardoi district. In this incident, a truck filled with sand overturned on a family sleeping outside their house in Mallawan police station area. In this incident, eight members of the same family were killed while a girl was injured.

23652 people died in road accidents in 2023

In February this year, the Uttar Pradesh government had said that 23,652 people would die in road accidents in the state in 2023. After this, DMs of all the districts were given a target to reduce these by 50 percent this year. According to the then Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, in 44,534 cases of road accidents in Uttar Pradesh in 2023, 23,652 people died while 31,098 people were injured.
