The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the England women’s squad for their tour of South Africa starting on November 24. The England women’s team will have to play series in all three formats on this tour, starting with three T20 matches, followed by three ODIs and a Test series. England’s lackluster performance at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup that concluded in the UAE last month resulted in major changes to the T20 squad, with star player Alice Kepsi being omitted from the squad.
Ellis can’t do that in the T20 world
Alice Kepsey had a poor showing with the bat in the Women’s T20 World Cup, scoring just 19 runs in three games. Kepsi is currently playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the Women’s Big Bash League, where she has only scored 27 points in 5 games. ECB has included Paige Scholfield, who made her debut in international cricket in September, into the T20 squad for the first time. Meanwhile, fast bowler Lauren Filler, who quit the T20 World Cup squad, has also returned to the team and has been named in the squad for all three events.
The first women’s exam will be held in South Africa after 2002.
The last women’s Test match was in South Africa in 2002 and Heather Knight will captain England in all three formats. Several players from the England team are currently busy participating in the ongoing T20 league Big Bash in Australia, from where they will depart for South Africa on November 16. The two teams will play a three-match T20 series from November 24, a three-match ODI series from December 4, while the two teams will play a one-match Test series from December 15 to 18 .
