The Supreme Court on Friday expressed concern over the health of hunger-striking farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. It was also said that it is the responsibility of the Punjab government to ensure the stable health of Dhalewal. If hospitalization is required, authorities will make an immediate decision. Meanwhile, the Attorney General (AG) of Punjab told the court that if there had been no protest, there would have been no problem in admitting Dhalewal to the hospital.
The Punjab AG said it has filed an affidavit on behalf of the chief secretary and deputy attorney general. If Dhalewal approves, the Punjab government will shift him to a hospital. Temporary hospitals have been arranged. The Supreme Court recorded in its order that the Punjab government cited Dhalewal’s blood sample and electrocardiogram report. Yesterday, another medical report was submitted to us, according to which Dhalewal is in good health. Dhalewal’s condition worsened day by day.
Health status should be continuously monitored – SC
Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked Punjab government lawyer General Gurminder Singh to file an affidavit today regarding the shifting of Dhalewal to a makeshift hospital constructed near the Kanauli border protest site. The Chief Secretary and Additional Advocate General of Punjab has filed an affidavit giving information about the temporary hospital arrangements. The top court said if Dhalewal needs to be admitted to hospital, then authorities should immediately provide him with temporary or alternative hospital facilities.
The court said Dhalewal’s health should be continuously monitored. According to doctors, he needs to be hospitalized for treatment. It is the responsibility of Punjab to ensure Dhalewal’s stable health. The Supreme Court said it was Punjab’s constitutional duty to ensure that Dhalewal’s life was spared. The authorities will decide whether the farmer leaders can be moved to a makeshift hospital 700 meters away from the protest site.
Dallewal has been fasting since November 26
The court said the Punjab Chief Secretary and Chairman should submit a fresh medical report on the stability of his health. A medical committee has been formed to monitor Dhalewal’s health condition. Submit a compliance report describing the compliance steps taken in this regard. If you need to contact the court, you can contact the court. Dhalewal has been on a hunger strike at the Kanauli border since November 26, demanding legal guarantees for minimum support prices (MSP) for crops.
