Big league churning
A battle is going on among political parties to convince rebel candidates in Maharashtra. Monday is the last day to withdraw nominations. In this case, the political parties have only one day left to convince the rebel candidates. Meanwhile, Mahayutthi leaders (Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP) are holding an important meeting at Varsha Bungalow, the official residence of the Chief Minister in Mumbai. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis arrived at Varsha Bungalow on behalf of the BJP. At this meeting, a brainstorming session is taking place to convince the rebel candidates and how to withdraw their nominations.
The BJP and Sindhi factions, which have around 20 candidates in the fray, are facing pressure to withdraw their names. If we talk about Mahayuthi, there are about 35 such leaders who entered this field with a rebellious attitude. Now the coalition’s election chief is looking for ways to convince the rebels. If their nominations are not withdrawn in time, Mahayut could face big problems in the elections. Therefore, the effort of coalition leaders is to convince as many rebel leaders as possible in a timely manner.
The most interesting thing is the Mahim seat
Maharaja’s biggest question is about Mahin’s seat. This is the seat from which Amit Thackeray, son of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, is contesting. Meanwhile, Sada Sarvankar is contesting the elections on behalf of the Shiv Sena of the Sindhi faction. This means that the main contest in this seat will be between Amit Thackeray and Sada Saravankar. There are rumors that Sada Saravankar is under pressure to withdraw his nomination, but he is not ready to accept it yet. Sada Saravankar remains adamant that he will not withdraw his nomination.
Dilemma exists in these seats of Mahayuti
- Amol Shinde of the BJP defected from the Pachora seat and entered the fray as an independent candidate.
- Atul Shah took a rebel stand and filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Mumbadevi seat.
- BJP leader Vijayraj Shinde has bagged an Independent MP seat from Buldhana.
- BJP leader Prakash Gavai has filed an independent nomination from the Mekha seat.
- Hasmukh Gehlot, the BJP deputy mayor of Ovala Majewada, has defected and entered the field.
- BJP leader Sunil Shinde defected and filed an independent nomination from Paithan seat.
- Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bhaskar Dhanv has also entered the fray for the Janaya seat, taking a rebellious stance.
- Similarly, the BJP’s Sunil Mirkar also staged a rebellion and contested from the Sirode seat.
- BJP’s Vishal Parba contests from Sawantwadi seat.
- The BJP’s Satish Ghatge has created trouble for the alliance by joining the opposition fight in Ghansawangi constituency.
The BJP’s Kiran Thackeray has contested from the seat as an independent from Karjat.
The extent of the electoral insurgency can be seen in the battle between nine BJP rebels and the Shinde Group’s Shiv Sena. Meanwhile, nine rebels from the Shinde Group have taken a rebellious stand by nominating independents against the BJP candidates. Talking about the NCP, seven leaders of the Shiv Sena Shinde faction have filed independent nominations. However, political parties believe that the rebels do not have much influence in the 288-seat parliament and that it has influence in smaller states.
Rebel candidates add to headaches for parties
With the entry of rebel candidates into Maharashtra, it has become a new headache for political parties in various seats. All political parties are aware of the strength of the rebels, so they try to convince the majority of the rebels in time. Some of them are also likely to get MLC seats. It would be fine if the rebels agree in time, but if they don’t agree, only the party candidates will bear the consequences, and the election results may also be affected. Opposition parties in particular could benefit from this.
